mean brake dust
i got after market i think aluminum wheels on my truck and i have pits from corrosion it looks like from brake dust... was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to use as far as cleaner/polish.. went to one of the tire shops around here, and asked the guy at the counter, he told me that sand blasting would work, and then put a new clear coat on them, but that sounds a tad overkill i hope any ideas would really help...

if you just want to get them clean..I use eagle one tire and wheel cleaner..that stuff will almost clean brake dust with out wiping it down with a rag..sounds like yours will need a good scrubbing..spray it on. let it work in for a minute or 2. scrub well.. then rinse...I use it every time I wash my truck and they stay nice and shiny and the white leters come out bright white..I use mothers wheel polish to give them a shiny look and remove the tuff spots..another hint is to use Murphy oil soap to wash your truck and wheels with...this soap does not need to be rinsed..I do rinse my truck however.. but it leaves no spots and shines up a truck almost like it was just waxed..
