Just got my 96 PSD out of the shop. Rebuilt tranny. Wow what a difference. Had this built completely for towing, all new everything. I had a concern about the harsh shifting and different patterns. Went for a test drive with the builder, and he re-educated me about it all. Asked him to unplug my "Banks Trans Command" thinking that it would mellow out the shifting and it turns out they never plugged it back in. So after plugging it back in, get this, it mellowed out the shifting??? Had a ATS convertor installed and that's another experience you'll have to try. Comming down a hill, slipped it into 2nd and almost came to a stop from 40mph. I though I had a standard transmission. 3 year 75000 warranty. Next week we try it with the 5th Wheel.
Wow that sounds really good. Where did you get it done. I would kill to have a good tranny guy out here. Awsome keep us update on how it does with the trailer.
It was done by a local transmission shop "Supierior Transmission". they've been in business for years and do a great job. The only problem I had was recieving the ATS Torque Convertor. #1 got lost in the shipping, not sure where it ended up at? #2 I think it ended up at Ocean Shores on the East Coast ? and after about two+ weeks #3 got to where it was suppose to go.

The total cost of transmission with sales tax was right at $4900.00, everything included. (I figured in this state, that was just about the sales tax on a new truck) The list of parts installed covered the entire page. Every major component was replaced. The cost of the TC was $1500.00, and that was included in the $4900. I'll be back from our trip a week from Tuesday and for sure will give a report as how everything worked. Well be going about 700 miles, that should be a good trial trip, and I tow a 30' fifthwheel, gross truck and trailer is right at 18,500 lb.
