My master cylinder has started to get some surface rust (firewall mounted). Just wondering what typy/brand of off the shelf paint anybody has used without the brake fluid eating it away.
I doubt if there's any paint that brake fluid won't eat. It's not off the shelf, but you might try POR-15. Battery acid will eat it (had it happen already) but maybe brake fluid won't...just a guess. I've found that paint will hold up pretty well if you don't let brake fluid sit on it very long so if you get some on it just wipe it off right away.
I painted my new MC and wheel cylinders. I plan on using Dot-5 silicone fluid. I don't think Dot-5 eats paint the way Dot-3 does.

ps. sorry, I don't mean to start a debate over the pros and cons of Dot-5!! ;-)
