I have a 95 f150 4x4 and like many others my leaf spring hangers need to be replaced. I have read MANY post on the subject. It looks like the best way to get the rivets out is to use and angle grinder. Since I do not have an air compressor that works (Borrowed my bosses from '73,) is an electric angle grinder powerful enough? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I bought the Ryobi 4" angle grinder AG401, its taken out everything Ive thrown at it. Buy a couple cutoff discs too, they come in handy. Its not my choice of brands if I thought I was going to use it on a weekly basis, but for a go to tool when needed its been great. Ive had it for 4 years now and if it dies, Im replacing it with the same. Buy a pair of welding gloves that way you have forearm protection as well.

I liked my Ryobi until the trigger switch burned out when I was using it to grind off some old flooring glue in my kitchen remodeling job. Try finding a replacement switch for it. I finally found one, and the switch cost more than a brand spankin new DeWalt grinder.
Just my .02 worth on the grinder. It'll probably be fine as along as you don't heavily load the motor in the grinder.
No offense, but why would you try to replace a switch in a grinder that lists for less then $40? As far as overloading the Ryobi your right. It did slow down for a second when I cut a 1" groove across my double car driveway using a cutoff wheel. (asphalt not concrete)
I'm about to tackle the task myself also. What type of hardware did you use to mount the new spring hanger? I'm assuming grade 8, 1/2" bolts, but did you have to ream out the holes to fit?
Thanks
Rich
yeah i am using grade 8 1/2 bolts while I am under there i am replacing leaf springs (cracked), and shocks and shock mounts. I hate N.E. Salt. Also I got my air chisle to work so that worked mint.
