And she's going back under the knife. Never though about the fact that no oil pressure means the Turbo bearings have no oil. Ain't that freakin' great!! Blew the turbo too!!
Well, I don't have to worry about losing the LPOP's in this engine again!! Woo hoo!!
We got the stock turbo back on today and took her for a test drive. Pulled out on the main road, got to 5 pounds boost and BOOM! Put a rod through the block!!
So, we're going to find out just how good this spare 2004 engine I bought is. We're going to keep the performance intake, the exhaust, the return regulated fuel system, the FASS 150/150, the Banks Intercooler and the ARP Studs.
Already sold the NOS system and the Water/Meth that I just installed. The 64mm Turbo is shot to crap. Still got the 2006 Turbo to put on the 2004 engine.
Bummin'!! I knew it was gonna hapen one day, but didn't think it'd be this soon. Well, I learned a lesson and soon as I can work some engineering things out, we'll soup her back up even better. I'll be in my third childhood about then!!
Ouch!! I still like my 7.3L.......I've seen too many problems with the 6.0 but you kinda had that one commin' LOL......I think you may have exceeded the limits of your motor just a little bit. Bummer dude.

We think we got it figured out, but I ain't gonna fix it for that kinda power again for a while!! If you're curious, look under the Diesel Competition thread and you'll see my post on theory.
My ol' 6.9 may not win many races, but it's still pulling strong...
Course, ya know, when ya get to boasting too much, it tends to kick you in the rear sometimes...
While I'm not well versed in the newer diesels, are the HPOP gears the oil pump, or the injection pressure? I recall mention of the engine oil pressure having something to do with injection. If your oil pressure dove, PLUS the diesel got into the oil, quite the recipe for disaster.. So did it warn you, or just kick the walls out to come for a visit unannounced?

LPOP is for engine lubrication and to feed the HPOP which drives the injectors. They broke quickly. If you read my theory thread under Diesel Competition, you'll get an idea of what fubard.
