Its good idea to servicing the IPR without any symptoms of malfuntions, but if you are changing the fuel pump and the canister is outside?
Can you help me ASAP because Im in my work and almost go home and I dont have quick internet there and Im going to install every thing tomorrow morning.
It might be easier to just concentrate on the fuel pump replacement for now.
You may mean FPR fuel pressure regulator, on the side of the fuel filter housing with a hose that goes to the fuel pump. It's easy. You can do it anytime. There are two 10m mm bolts that hold it to the side of the fuel filter canister. It also helps to remove the front fuel line. Carefully pry it away from the housing, being careful of the little green o-ring in there and clean out the little brass screen with a tiny screwdriver or maybe a good, stiff tooth brush. Make sure you replace the three little hoses with good high pressure fuel injection rated fuel line. I've used 5/16 for the two short ones and 3/8 for the longer one but I think you can use 3/8 for all three if you have to. When you are ready to install the pump keep the bolts a little loose on the mounting plate until you have the big banjo fuel line fitting started on the back.
Be careful when you take the old fuel pump out to not drop the push rod down into the engine block. If you loosen the mounting bolts from the bottom of the pump and then turn the engine over by hand with a socket on the crankshaft bolt it will push the pump up loose when the cam lobe comes up and pushes on the rod and the cam lobe will be up higher , closer to the hole making it hareder to drop the rod down into the block.
It can't hurt to service it now instead of later. It's alot easier with the fuel filter housing removed. There isn't much that goes wrong with the IPR except for oring or dirt getting in to it...and Oh ya, the nut getting loose. Don't over tighten it!!
F350_Hauler, thanks for your inputs, they are very usefull, and I already did what you mentioned; but mi question was about the IPR.
and Thanks to you Cuda-Jim for your answer, and I just decided to servicing the IPR later, when needed, anyway, it is not to difficult.
