If it has just a run capacitor on the motor(I don't see why not), some air compressor motors also have start capacitors. Capacitors (run or start) are under those humps on the otter case of the motor.

If you have trouble starting the compressor, you may have a bad unloader (Does the compressor bleed off when it cycles off?) or you could try lowering your cut in pressure to 100 psi.
