Just to give you guys a heads up, i found the beginning of cancer under the weather strip against the cab at the top of the door. Pull it back and check. My 2002 had a pretty good start on it, and i luckily found it about 3 months before my 5 year corrosion waranty was up and ford fixed it for free. I checked my freinds 2003 ranger and sure enough it was rusting in the same spot and the dealer fixed it for free again.
Thanks, I'm gonna go look at my 2003 and see whats going on there. Does the corrosion warrenty transfer between owners? I'm not the original owner of the truck.
It's a 5 year perferation waranty thats comes with the truck, which means if the metal start to rot they fix it fr free, and yes the waranty is for the vehicle and doesn't matter if you bought the truck new or not, but it's 5years from the original purchase date, which will be in fords computer.
Another place to look is the weld area on the pillar by the windshield. I found a nice bubbled up rust area on my 03 when I was cleaning it today. Also noticed some on the inside bottom edge of door. Checked out my neighbor's 97 and he has rust in same areas. Guess I will be swinging by the dealer again real soon.
Im used to rust living in wisconsin my f150 has rotted out rear fenders and cab corners even though its been fixed twice but at least the rust on my 97 ranger is still easily fixable if i dont procrastinate.
