i went back out to my unc's place yesterday too swap the cabs , bed etc . around on the 55's so i could get to the bent frame and part it , welll.... after unloading all the stuff that my wife and whomever helped her load it , i found that one of my perfect no rust , beautiful doors { got two sets } had a big f-ing dent in one from front to rear , a broken window in another , they loaded all kinds of crap on top of thr grille and dented it and the perfect headlight trim rings . the front cab mounts had been knocked loose where they were tacked on the right rear mount is bent , and on and on . i kept my cool didn't utter a word while she was present although i'm sure she got the impression i was "upset " . i just don't get how knowing how hard i had worked on it all the parts searching , and just general blood sweat and tears that went into this ol' truck she could treat it that way . oh well i''m gonna go back saturday and pick up some more of the parts and steal the 9 inch my big block, and the disc brakes and spindles off the front , and other assprted parts from the front suspension as im gonna try and make 'em work on my 53 . just makes me sick though . i thought about doin it to her beloved pt 'vert and see how she feels ,but i', a bigger person than that ,no pun intended .
You're a better man than me! Although me and the missus have been together for over 20 years, if she pulled something like that with my truck, I'm afraid I couldn't keep my cool and bite my tounge that hard. Sometimes others just don't understand that these old trucks are a labor of love, not just some rusty pile of parts we are trying to resurect. Good luck with the salvage, hopefully you don't find anymore damage.
Man, I'm very sorry to hear the the damage went that far. Wether it was a truck related part or not, I think the thing that would have really ticked me off about the whole thing is the total lack of consideration that was showed to your things. Even if they had the attitude that "its just old junk truck parts" they still should have trreated them with care because they were "your" truck parts.
i'll tell ya sumpthin' that ticks me off even more , the unnamed tow co. that picked it up had a wheel lift on the truck but used a sling , and his insurance co. say's my pile of parts is only worth $ 200 dollars . yep i let my temper go on that one . i kindly told them what i thought and where to go and to take their offer and where to put it . washed my hands of it . the freind i had finish the tow has just a sling and he's been towing for over thirty years and absolutely no damage by him when he finished the job . oh well live and learn . and yep you're all right i'll put it behind me and move forward as everything happens for a reason , but it still pi--e- me off .
Kevin have you had a good low volume talk with your wife expressing how violated you feel. You guys have to work this out. You can't let this fester. You can replace your truck and you can replace your wife but know this niether replacement will be the same. Good luck and go talk to her, Rich.
already done that and been there . just have one heck of a time understanding and it makes me rather angry every time i see it . but like i said it happened for a reason so we will see what comes of it . thanx anyhow's cobraguy !!
fwiw, the saying goes. "if you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself." I've been victim to a friend trying to tow my '78 and the end result is the smashed grill shell and bent hood hinges....as seen in my other rides gal.
thanx for the offer kurtg but right now i don't think i'm gonna need 'em . she's jus comin' home and i'm parkin' her till i gat all the things on my 53 done . if you got then i will be in contact to purchase them and she's payin; !!!!
