The 302 in my truck stopped the other day and I can't seem to get it going. The thing doesn't have spark but the ICM shows "good". Can I check the pickup in the distributor and if so how do I go about it? Could it be the ECM or do I have some other items to check first? I assume the ECM is very expensive and I really don't want to even price the thing. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
If the test light flashed on the TACH side of the coil when you checked the ICM then the "pickup in the distributor" (PIP sensor) is also good.
If the TACH side is flashing you should have spark, check the coil wire.
How do you know that you do not have spark?
Also you do not have to start a new thread every time you ask a question about the same problem.
To clear the ECM (PCM) of the problem unhook your battery, unplug the PCM and re-hook your battery. Check for spark, if you now have spark the PCM is bad and if you do not have spark it is something else other than the PCM.
i rebuild ecu's/pcm's for ford at work. i might be able to repair or replace your computer. i'd need vehicle info and 50.00 for repair or 100.00 for a replacement. if it can help lemme know pcm's are expensive.
i work for one of the largest remanufactures of pcm, im the ford tech. your pcm's are in high supply or can be repaired for cheep. im offering this deal on the side to ford people. i use the same technique and equiptment when testing and repairing pcm's. 50.00 repair unless the board is burnt, then a replacement can be made with your prom worst case.
