While under load I sometimes get a hard shift. It's not really a slip (well at least I hope not), but more of a hard shift. I have not really heard a clunk, but close to it.
Only has happened while pulling the Travel Trailer and only during acceleration. Only during hard accel, has not happened while cruising down the interstate.
Just wondering if the tranny is smart like the engine (fuel/air mixture adjusted to driving style) and adjusts the shift points if it is under load (like a built in programmer)?
not sure if the tranny is smart but i would go get a programmer. they do wonders. i run a diablosport preditor programmer and i can change just the parameters i want to or load one of the tunes diablo made. it was worth it.
Now that I think about it, it may be when the tranny shifts from 2nd down to 1st. That surprises me and I let off the accelerator a bit and it shifts right of way back to 2nd. There is a very short period with no power (like the tranny is thinking) between the two gears.
I know when I first started to tow a trailer, I had a problem like that. I was told to make sure I don't have the over drive inguaged. It will make for hard shifting and I might say a lot of shifting. I only use over drive above 55-65 on the highway.
I tow my TT a lot with my truck, and I get something similar but a bit different. With a hard head wind, or on a good up grade my rig will shift to 2nd, then it winds out to about 4500 rpm and won't shift to 3rd, it will just hang in 2nd. I have to let off the throttle a lot then it shifts to third.
I have also been told that a good tuner like diablo, or edge will get this under control. But I think if I am going to invest in a tuner I might as well get an exhaust, and cai. I guess I will go dig up some gold in the desert, so I can pay for my never ending hobby of modding my truck! lol.
