I have a 2001 4.0 v6 ranger 4x4 that just recently started having A/C troubles, the A/C still works but has started blowing not so cold air, a couple weeks ago the air was cold not cool, now it is just cool and I imagine next up is warm air blowing. Any ideas? Is the low side pressure port on this model located on the compressor? or is it somewhere else? Not sure what I should be checking I have a recharge kit and hooked up the pressure gauge to the port on the compressor yesterday with the engine running and A/C on high, at idle it was fluctuating between 25 and i think aroudn 45 as the compressor would cycle on and off any ideas would be helpful.
Have a look in this forums "Tech Info" thread, located atop the forums thread listing page & scroll down to the Misc, section, click on the "blend door repair" & see if this sounds like it might fit your problem.
That link is down, cannot view the contents, did find from the tech info section that I was hooked up to low pressure side port, can someone explain what the Blend door does and some common issues?
If the freon level is low, the compressor will kick on more often than it should in order to circulate what freon level is present and attempt to cool the vehicle. It may just need a small charge.
The blend door is used by the HIVAC system to blend cool & hot output air to the cabin. A common problem when air temp can't be controlled is with a plastic part, that moves the blend door, breaking.
Doing a search for "blend door fix" will turn up plenty of thread links on the subject, as it's a comon problem.
I've sent a message to the Webmaster about the Tech Info link problem.
