89' Ranger automatic shift troubles
1989 Ranger 2.9 V-6 Automatic w/overdrive 4WD
wont shift out of low, unless you lift your foot off the gas,.. i usually take it up to 25 MPH, and let the tach drop to around 2,000 RPM, and she goes right in to 2nd.. after that shifts perfect.. no slipping, or hesitation for any other gears...actually all shifts after 1to 2 are crisp and positive...
have put new oil/filter in tranny, new vacume module on the side of the trans, have run a new vacuem line from original intake vacuem port.
check engine light comes on after about 15 minutes of driving..shut the truck off and re-start and it goes out, and stays off for approx another 15 min. computer check says its due to the temp sensor not giving computer adaquate info, causing a seond code to come up that the engine is running lean..... going to replace sensor this weekend, altho i dont think it has anything to do with the shifting of the tranny...
last thing.. the truck sat for approx 3 years, and when i first put it on the road it shifted perfectly from 1to 2, but slipped between 2to3, and 3 to O/d was also perfect.. after i put in a can of trans-x, it shifted between 2to 3 great.. but now like i said , getting out of low is only accomadted by lifting your foot off the gas....
HELP!!!!!!!!
