used wheel adapters ? The thangs that you can bolt on and it changes your bolt pattern , i would like to know if there good and safe before i buy them because there $225 for a set.....
Well, the neighbor has had them on his 75 Vette for the last 4 years and has never had an issue with them. The car puts out over 490 hp (flywheel, not rw) and has yet to have an issue. The place that made his guarenteed them, even after he told them what he was going to do and what they where going on.
Why not? A well made wheel adapter is firmly attached and is stronger than the hub it is attached to. They have been used on high output race cars without failure. When it comes to wheel selection on my project Bug, I may use them.

I was just gonna say. We used to use them on vw bugs all the time, with never an issue.
rebocardo beat me to it. My dually 350 comes from the factory with extensions (adaptors) on the front axle.
Let us all not forget the 19.5" adaptors for our superduties and the amount of use they receive with the heavier payloads.
People have said "a friend of mines friend once had a wheel fly past him on the highway" but I never met that friend and more details never came forth.
At first blush the physics side of the situation may make you worried but my truck has 100,k and the front wheels haven't left me yet. Everyone will quote destruction of bearings and torque on the ball joints but that's not going to cause fatal structural error and endangering of family or friends. (I just make them sign a waiver and keep it on file)
I know of many guys on here that are running giant dualies with rear wheel spacers which is just one form of adaptor and they are doing fine and they look great (the trucks, not the guys)
Adaptors should be investigated and purchased with warranties, but certainly not forbidden.
i think they are safe , now it would be different if i was gonna be gettin ruff with it , like burnouts and mud ridin in it , but im not , so i think there safe to drive down the highway.....

We used them for off roading bugs so we could run 15" chevy wheels, all the things we did to those bugs only lost one rear wheel but it was the guy that put it ons fault.
