Cool Running Rough - HELP ASAP

1990 Bronco 5.0
Last night did an oil/filter change, plugs (Autolight copper), wires (Accel), Cap and Rotar (GP Sorenson). Checked timing with spout connector removed - 10*btdc.

Before all of this the engine was running rough at idle, as gas was applied it ran better but it was still noticable when accelerating hard.

After all this it ran great until I drove and once I stopped the rough idle started again.

Thinking that now I should check 1) Vacumn, 2) Compression.

i have also not had much luck running accel wires. not sure why but for some reason i had this very issue. changed the plug wires and got better. also double check the pluge wire firing order, its so easy to swap wires onto the wrong plugs. also make sure they are not touching especially 7 & 8 wires.

have you pulled codes? might bump timing up to 12*btdc with spout removed. might change fuel filter as well.

I am not sure what brand the old wires were, but I would think that any kind of new wires would be better than ones with burns on the insulation from heat and shorting. Also, I am confidant that the wires are hooked up right/not touching, I made sure to triple check that last night because I went through that fiasco before.

I am waiting to get an extra hand to change the timing, I don't want to loosen the bolt enough to turn the distrubutor and then let go to crank the engine and have it spin.

I never thought of the fuel filter, it has been two to three years since mine has been changed.

I noticed today that it runs great for the first 30 seconds to a minute but then the vibrations starts. Could this be caused by a sticky valve?

you might try changing the tfi module thats mounted on the dizzy. they are prone to act up when the motor heats up. have you done a compression test?

No, I didn't have time last night to work on it. Tonight I am going to change the fuel filter, and time it to 12* btdc. If that doen't work I will have to wait until Monday to do anything else. Going out of town.

We offer our Live Wires with off-the-shelf part numbers OR you can order them from us and have us build each wire to the exact length you want for each cylinder. Also with the specified boot angles.

The above also work on Broncos.

Update: Got the fuel filter changed, and checked the computer of codes. Ran a KOEO check and got 11, which is "system passed" correct? And a 31 from continuous memory. I looked at the list of codes from ford fuel injection dot com but I have no idea what that code means. Can anybody shead any light on the situation?

Code 31 has to do with the EGR Valve position. Do circuit checks on the sensor and vacuum running to the valve.
