400 help

I built my 400 like this.
*9.5 to 1 pistons
*comp rv cam (timing set to 0 degrees)
*4 bbl intake
*4 bbl carb 625cfm carter
* hei distributor
*1 inch carb spacer
*reserfaced heads
*92 octane fuel

I took my truck into the local speed shop and they dino'd the motor and tuned it. The numbers were good (225 rwHP and 300rwTrq). They said they loaded the the dino to 3000lbs because i tow with my truck. The timing is set to 10+. It was running lean at crusing speed. the metering rods were changed.

PROBLEM: When i am towing my 4x4 on a trailer(5000lbs) my motor pings at 1800rpm to 2100rpm and gets a little warmer to.

Do you think that my total timing might be out at the hei distributor(wrong spring)?

You need to determine what your timing curve is. i.e.
initial=
mech advance=
vacuum advance=

The initial plus mech. = total You can use a dial back timing light if available to ge those numbers.

9.5:1 is pushing it a bit if that's actual.
