So, I talked to my ford dealer today and he said that I could put the 2005up Integrated Brake Controller into my 2004 if I bought the kit that included the harnesss and master cylinder. The hardest part he said was going to be wiring the power, illumination, brake output, etc.... Anyone have comments? Or have done this, or knows how to get wiring diagrams from ford. Geez asking them for one is like asking for blueprints to the stealth bomber....they claim they dont exist. BTW: i want to thank those who posted wiring diagrams for the upfitter option into the 2004, the color breakdown was great, just finished my install today. Thanks.

Seriously now...would doing so give you a greater benefit than just using a Prodigy? Millions of trailer miles have come safely to a halt with one. It sounds like your project gonna cost a lot more than a Prodigy!
lol...yeah but i now have the complete 2007 lower dash, so i now have a compartment where my draw-tite2 used to be...tired of it laying on floor. Also, may have 2 replace the MC anyway. I like the uncluttered look.
You don't have the 2005+ computer though, which is what takes the information from the master cylinder and tells the brake controller how to work. Sorry, but I don't think your dealer knows what he is talking about. The guys who add on the trailer brake afterward have to have the trailer brake and master cylinder installed, and then have their computer updated to let it know that the trailer brake is installed so it tells it how to work. Your computer can't do that as far as I know.
Yes, it won't work unless you retrofit the entire computer control system from a 2005+ Super Duty into your truck. The system is a lot more than just a trailer brake controller. It also monitors the trailer brake circuitry and the trailer lights circuitry and reports faults.
I'm pretty sure these guys are right about it being a major deal for an '03 / '04 truck. For about 120 bucks I would just go with the Prodigy. I had one in my '03 and honestly it works pretty much as well as the integrated one. It senses your rate of decelleration pretty accurately if you set it correctly. About the only thing that the integrated one does beyond that is senses your brake pedal position rather then using a pendulum and it does have the benefit of interacting with the ABS during a panic stop. Dont get me wrong, the integrated controller is sweet, but it doesnt blow the Prodigy out of the water. I will tell you that the Prodigy will blow the Draw Tite out of the water as I went from the DT to the Prodigy myself.
