6.0l
I stopped by to top off my tank last Friday and had a very nice new 2008 chevy 2500 hooked up to his 5th wheel in front of me at the diesel pump. I sat there awhile and just when I was about to pull around this older fella walked up to my window. He apologized and said he was having problems. I got out to see if I could help. Poor guy’s truck would not start and his CEL was on. After about 15 minutes he finally got on the phone with roadside assistance. I wished him luck and went on my way. Anyway, I passed by the same station the next day and the 5th wheel was still there; I guess he had to tow his truck to get it fixed… This is the second new chevy that I have ran across that had an issue. The other was my buddy that got a 2005 2500 and had to have his turbo replaced at 500 miles. I am a full time RVer and talk to plenty of super duty owners. Minus this forum I have yet to run into someone that has had any major issues with their 6.0l…..I sure do love my truck ……Just an FYI.
I'am HAPPY with my Ford =)
This coming from a guy who had a 03 6.0 with some issues. After they replaced the sticky turbo all was well. My truck seemed to have issues because I let it sit for long periods. I know have a 2006 that has ran flawlessly...
There are numerous people even Ford enthusiasts who are calling out the 6.0 as a problematic engine and most of them have absolutely no first hand knowledge of the engine itself. When you look at the fact that the 6.0 was the #1 selling engine in any Heavy duty truck (Ford, Dodge or Chevy) during its rein then it is no wonder why there are a few more posts regarding issues with them. If you look at the problems you will also see that 99% of them are all 05 or earlier build dates and the ones with problems are only a small percentage of the trucks actually built....
