I have a 2000 V10 4x4 with around 10300 miles on it. It is stock except for a K&N filter and 285/70/17 BFG AT's.
Anyway, I started it up this morning (seemed normal), drove about 15 feet and all of the sudden the engine cut out. If I try to restart it, it will rev a little at first (like normal) but then like start to idle really low and eventually just cut out completely. (in a matter of maybe 10 seconds after I release the key back to the 'run' position). Any ideas? I know it has gas, and I just checked the oil and coolant, both are at the low end of normal. No obvious fluid leaks or anything like that. I drove it last night and everything was normal, so I don't know what all of the sudden happened.
Any ideas before I have it towed to the dealership? (I really don't like my dealership, which doesn't help any either)
Can you keep it running with your foot on the gas? If so, that sounds like the classic Idle Air Control valve is stuck & in need cleaning or replacement.

I didn't feel like messing with it and just took it (had it towed) to a shop. Apparently, along with replacing the IAC itself, they also do a intake system cleaning, and change the oil (to remove any contaminants that may collect in the oil during the cleaning). Is all that usually done, or was the shop just giving me the runaround?
Intake cleaning? ... uh ... don't you have an air filter? nah...sometimes cleaning the entire intake tract is a good thing. However, good is relative to the price they charge. An oil change should be included in that price IMHO.
