Well I started a thread about tapping and banging sound yesterday...well went out after work and started and bang, I have found the problem, as a piece of the block and rod comes flying...I think the problem is in the engine or on the ground, whichever way you want to look at it...so I am in the market for an engine...I was toying with the idea of getting more than stock and going for performance...where are some places to start my search...any suggestions
WOW! that sucks!!! How many miles on the motor? I would definitly throw a Cummins in there! When my 7.3 finally dies (in many years i hope) a Cummins will go in.
If you wanna keep is Red(international) DI sells a short block with the forged rods for about 3.5K. If you want stronger(aka no more big oil leak from the rod stickin through), you could get some billet rods, mahle coated pistons, the list is long, and its over 10K to do it to last. The cummins is my route eventually im debating ole 12V or CR. The CR would be sweet but ALOT of money.
Better site to look for swapin to cummins, destroked.com.
More power for probably the same price as building the 7.3 to the hilt. Also it will last, it wont explode. Much more power made, for cheaper, after the motor swap.
