My bronco has a 4" lift on the front (rancho 5000 dual shocks and coils) and 2" on the back, custom extended radius arms mounted on the original brackets, and a steering stabilizer shock on the passenger side.
Two weeks ago driving around 40mph on a long right turn the car suddenly started to shake like if the left tire was going to be ejected from it, right after I went out of the turn the shaking stopped.
I took it to a suspension shop and they told me that there is nothing wrong with it.
But this keeps happening from time to time. Does anybody has experienced something like this? Should I look for something else? drive shafts, u-joints, etc?
I have a similar setup and experienced a similar problem just this past Friday. I was entering the freeway and in the middle of a 40mph left hand curve. Scared the crap out of me since I was in the process of accelerating. I got off at the next exit, pulled into a parking lot, certain I'd see something obviously broken, but didn't find a thing. I haven't been on that particular ramp again, but I haven't been able to duplicate it anywhere else. I attributed the problem to a convergence of harmonics between the ruts in the road, and the play already present in the suspension & steering joints, perhaps multiplied by the height & knobbies. I haven't taken it in anywhere since I already planned to rebuild the front end one of these weekends.
i agree, recheck all the bolts to the lift itself and the brackets for cracks. i would then go to an alignment shop and have them inspect the front end. goodyear is a good place for instance. it could be bad balljoints or really worn tierods coupled with a bad steering box. how much play is in your steering wheel?
The problem was the axle pivot bushing bracket, the bolts were loose and one of the corners is broken. The bolts were tightened and now I only to weld the broken part. But the vibration is gone.
