Engine noise

after driving for a bit(an hour or so) the motor develops a noise from the area around the torque converter, the noise is only audible between 825 to 1000 rpm
the noise sounds like a muffled portable air compressor(you know the sound)
everything is running great, just the noise bothers me not knowing what it is
any advice would be great

thx peeps
the POs mechanic said that it needed a new exhaust in the near future, i guess thats now, but the noise only comes around after about an hour of driving?? i will try to explain it better after my next outing this weekend
