Hello
I am new to the site (first post), but have enjoyed reading the forums and articles.
I am a FoMoCo retiree and have just recently purchesed a '96 F150 2WD with 5.8 motor, E4OD trans., 3:55 LS rear. The truck has only 9,000 miles on it and has been very well taken care of...(really, like new).
I am in the process of changing out all the fluids. I would like to go all synthetic, AMS or Mobil 1. I have contacted both company's and they both told me that their synthetic ATF's would be compatable with my trans and also any residule fluid (Mercon) that I cannot purge from the system.
I am concetrating on the trans. (E4OD) right now and read an article on the site by Mark Kovalsky about changing fluid on a E4OD and the procedure sounds like a good one with regards to getting most of the fluid out of the trans without using a commercial flushing machine.
Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) using Mark's procedure?
Does anyone have any thoughts or negative experince with using synthetic ATF in a E4OD.
Any info would be appreciated. Nice to be a part of your group, Larry
We`re glad you have enjoyed reading these forums and hope you do so for a long time.
Congrats on your new ride, the '96 F150 must really be nice with only 9,000 careful miles on it, sounds like a real sweet deal. Nice to see it has been very well taken care of and is like new, a rare find.
