Header Question

I have a 73 f-250 4x4 with a 360 fe in it. It has a 2 barrell carb. I live around 10,000 ft above sea level so the carb is set up to run lean. everything runs good, but I want a little more power.
The truck is in need of a new exhaust system and my question is, If I install headers on the truck, could It hurt or lessen the power of the stock engine. Eventually I will install a 4 barrell intake and carb, but thats down the road.

thanks,
brad

360s biggest problem is low compression. Then exhaust. Not sure you're going to gain much with headers, as that would tend to help at higher rpm.

I would say it won't run worse, but don't expect anything dramatic.

o.k.
as long as it won't hurt it, being that I need it to run lean, than I'll do it.

Not sure about the "lean" thing, but when I put just headers on my '74 360, it did wake up a bit all over the RPM range. They were long-tube equal-length headers though, not shorties.

Go for it.
