I've been shopping around for headers for my 1995 F250 460. Everywhere I look, it says the headers will only fit an automatic transmission. Mine is standard. Are there no headers made for a standard?
I went digging through the header mess for a stickshift recently. There are only a few manufacturers out that make them to fit around manuals. The additional problem that I ran into was living in commufornia, I had to have CARB aproval. Only two manufacturers produce such a critter. Banks and L&L. The problem is that L&L no longer manufacturers them with the smog junk. (interestingly they still advertise them and the businesses that retail them still think they can order them. I found this out the hard way.) That leaves Banks. If you do not need the smog equipment there are a few, and I mean few other options. I did not look into the other options for obvious reasons.
One thing to consider when shopping for headers for these trucks is the high heat they generate. For some reason the late model 460 trucks run very hot on the exhaust. Cheap headers will not hold up well. This is compounded if you are using it as a tow vehicle. What ever you use, make sure they are a good pair, the last thing you want is reocurring header leaks/cracks.
