Pulled codes need info

Info: 94 F150 302 Maf (factory setup) e4od 4x4

The other day I thought I got a bad batch Gas. Pinging and the like .Add lucas additive. Helped. This truck is picky out gas any way. Or I get ping issues. Spent a weekend checking sensors while back .

Well I was washing truck and the exhaust is Black way to rich . Pull codes Got 1-2 (12) 1-2 (12) and 1-3 (13) 1-2 (12 ) .Right?? Used Fordfuelinjection.com To see if I did right

Did them 6 times same every time. So whats up ? I had a tester that would throw the code right at you but it died. So help

So I am going to replace plugs 20000 mile tune up anyway The ford racing wires MDS cap rotor and MSD Coil have 5000 miles on em. Clean throttle body up and reset timing.

What would cause the rich running ?

I say its the Fuel presure reg (did searches ) Sounds like it . But what about ping issue ??

Changing the timing up or down has no major effect. Its not bad just longhills with load on. So while I'm under hood I'll check any ideas . Thanks

I'd re-check those codes. I thought that Ford had switched over to 3 digit codes by 94.

My 93 F-150 5.8 was giving 3 digit codes. I am new at the whole code pulling thing but thats what it seemed like.

Good to know. I wonder how Ford decided which trouble code set to use...

unless you got a 111 111 separator pulse then a 312. A 312 could mean that air is being pumped upstream of the O2 sensor, giving a false lean reading, causing the mixture to be richened, which would give the soot in the tailpipe.

Here is another "how to" if others are interested in something other than fordfuelinjection.com: http://www.thorssell.net/hbook/eectest.html

I'm not saying I'm right, just something to think about. The 12 and 13 don't seem like they are related to the sooty tail pipe. I'm just speculating to make sure you aren't chasing something that isn't really wrong. I'm sure you have a good handle on how to get the codes.

No problem I asked question because I want to know. Since I ran 4 tanks trough it it seems to be ok . Just must have been really bad gas. Now the ping issue ,I'll recheck timing and plugs etc.

Maybe try cleaning the MAF too, while you're at it. Just a little rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to wipe the heating elements. Remember to be very gentle.
