I've got an 86 Bronco with a mild 460, a C6 with a shift kit and a NP208 transfer case. I would like to put in another transfer case for an extra low range, and need some advise. First, can I bolt a Ch*vy transfer case up to the back of the tailshaft housing (so the front shaft output is on the other side and out of the way)? Second, could I just find a divorced transfer case and hook it up to the back of the transfer case bolted to the transmission, or would the torque destroy the second transfer case? Anybody know of any web pages that go through a conversion like this? Thanks everyone,
Hey Junkyard Slug,
Check out the Nov. issue of 4x4 power, they have a really good article called "Gonzo Gearing" that deals with what your lookin' for as well as some other options in cases'. It also lists contacts for 'em. Hope you get set-up with what your lookin' for! I'll be checkin' out the Atlas II case with the 4 to 1 low range! Looks like it might have the beef to replace the 205.
Good luck with your project, Chuck P.
