Distibuter gear
Brian
1. Has the block been decked or the heads/intake manifold milled? If so that will lower the distributor even further into the block and put the mating of the cam gear and dist. gear in a bind. You can either shim the dist. up or or you can purchase an aftermarket dist. that has a slip collar to allow for adjustments.
2. One racing trick is to pull your dist. and grind a verticle 1/16" groove in the smooth oil sealing surface just above the bronze gear. This groove has to line up where the two gears mate. This will allow extra oil to squeeze past the dist and lube the gears. ONE CAUTION: Do not exceed the depth or width of the groove...keep it at 1/16 of and inch. Too much of a groove and you will start losing oil pressure to the cam bearings, etc.
