Hello fellas, well my 22' inch rims finally came in last week but, i returned them.
Given that note! I decided to go with some 18" inch rims, of course i need to level my truck if i want to put some 35's on my new soon to be ordered rims, but the only question i have is that, my bud has his leveled his truck, and put some 33's looks very nice, only that he had to bend his fender, because of rubbing with the 33's now he has a 4x4 f150 and i have a f150 stx reg cab, and i really dont want to bend my fender in order to get no rubbing, so do yall have any suggestions on what tire size is a good size for some 18's rims without rubbing issue, i really don't want to bend my fender. And if yall do please show me some pics!
Thanks ed.
I did a 2-1/2" level kit, BDS add-a-leaf rear and 33's (325-60/18) and had to trim just a sliver off of the front air dam. Pics in gallery.
I think if you run 35's, you will need a skinny tire, perfect offset on the wheels and the level kit to keep from rubbing. If you have a 4x2 even that might not work. Maybe others will have more info, and there is a wealth of info already posted, just search under things like ' lift, level, tire size, rubbing' etc.
i agree with corey... i am running the same size, and you can see how much i had to trim in my gallery. just remember though, that the tire size will also depend on the wheel offset and backspacing as to whether it rubs or not. mine currently clears great, but i have not had it offroad yet. i didnt have to bend my fender, just trim a piece about 1/2" x 2" at most.
I run 325/65/18's that works out to roughly 35" only have the slightest bit of rub with wheels turned going over large bumps at a quick rate of speed. I too needed to trim about 3/4's of an inch of plastic on the corners below the bumper
I have Mark LT rims, which are same as F150 rims, with 2" wheel adapters so rims and tires are set out 2" more than stock. I have lots of pics in my gallary.
i have a 2004 lariet 2" leveling kit bought 17 inch american racing wheels with a 5.5 inch backspacing 33 x 12.5 mickey thompson baja mtz with no rubbing.
guess its all in the backspacing. I also noticed because of the leveling kit the control arm comes down real far and touches the coil spring, only when i hit a bump real hard was kinda wondering if ths happens with all of them.its an autospring leveling kit with the quarter inch offset.check out the pics in my gallery theres only a couple but they look nice
I think backspacing will make all the difference in rubbing. My dad's 04 has Ford wheels and a 2" AS leveling kit, and 34" super swampers, and he doesn't have any rubbing(did have alittle on the mud flaps when turning in reverse, but they are now off, with no rubbing).
