Smile Ground Wire 85 150

Is it common to have the ground wire attached to the bottom starter bolt?

I am replacing the starter and noticed that the ground wire is attached to the bottom bolt on my starter. If this isn't common...any suggestions on where I should attach it on the engine?

Thanks.

Seem to remember some people with six cylinder engines commenting their ground cable was on the starter.

I personally like to ground it to a bolt hold not used for anything else like ijn fronty of the engine below the alternator. I also run several ground straps from to frame to my engine and for the frame to the cab and truck bed.

The starter bolt is common. Make sure the ground strap from the engine to the firewall in good!
