Just wondering if removing my muffler on my '00 Excursion will give me any benifit in performance & EGT Temps? I know it would be louder though!! The exhaust is a 4" Turbo back. Thanks

i removed mine about 4-5 months ago, and saw no preformance benefits, but it will definatley will lower EGT temps. it is loud with the muffler on, i liked blasting people out with thier window rolled down at a stop light, you could see them cursing you as you pull away, haha

on that note, i am sad to say that i just put my muffler back on last night, i couldnt take the drone on the highway when i have my camper in the box, it gave me a headache.

Should lower EGTs, which is always a good thing.

Not to mention it sounds killer.

Do it, Do it! Hack that thing out, no worries. I always thought the drone was worse with the muffler installed then it was with it deleted. just my opinion

I thought my pipes were a little louder. The muffler really just helps to remove the cackle from the turbinator. The turbo sounds great with straight pipes behind it

I vote for losing it as well. Just a word for thought, Here in NC, they are starting to crack down on trucks having original equipment when getting an annual state safety inspection. I had to go to four differant inspection stations before I could get her passed. I don't know about other states, but here it is going to get tough. I am glad I never had a cat converter on it, because that would be a must now.

how would they know if it came with a cat or not, some did, some didn't. Remember " in some states a turbo is considerd a muffling device." Your experiences may vary.

I am so glad we don't have inspections in AL.

They are using the VIN numbers. It don't have to be original size, but if it had a cat, then it will have to have one to pass. If it had a muffler, it will have to have one to pass, ect.
