Yeah I agree. I haven't had a problem that I had to cool it down ever. And Ipull some good size loads. It wouldn't hurt to sit there for a minute or two either. tndiesel I would probably skip that program unless you are dead set on it.

Turbo cool down prolongs your turbinator life but lets face it, it takes about two minutes to cool down my turbinator after a long haul. I can get where Im goin early and let it cool down and not have to spend money on another gadget that does something I can myself.

Good point and if ya got 550 HP and 3 million ft.lb of torque like some here you will definately get there early.

Oh that reminds me, Steve are you able to pull big loads, say over 10,000lbs with that kind of HP and be able to do it for a good distance or even thru the hills. I would assume you dont run the giggle gas though.

I can pull anything, no matter what the weight. But you'll get there before I will. EGT's sky rocket when the truck is loaded down. I need an intercooler and Snow's water meth setup, their next on the list before the twin turbs.

What kind of weight can you pull reasonably before it sky rockets, I still pul quite a bit but not as much as I used to that is why I was wonderin'? I was thinkin about goin meth after the injectors.

I can pull 20,000 lbs up a 3 mile 6% grade and get the temps up past 1400*. smaller loads are much easier to manage.

Honestly neal, anything that i put on the truck that lugs the motor makes the EGT's sky rocket. I think I can get away with mayb 5k anything above that and im in the slow lane in 3rd gear tryin to keep rpm's up. Hills kill me. When i was haulin horses i would come to hills that i'd have to put the truckl in 2nd gear to keep the rpm's up to help keep EGT's down. If I got a big enough run at the hill i usually would be ok to just scream over the top and let the EGT's cool down on the other side. My fear with an intercooler is that it wont cool the temps enough. Only time will tell. But to haul my loads i bought the 6.4 so i wouldn't have to worry about that issue cause it got to the point to were i would be runnin about 850-900 degrees on slight inclines which would be about 1200* pre-turbo. So i didnt want to chance roachin the motor.

The only draw back to water meth is that it can build high EGT's as well if you use to much meth. and the motor can rust if you use to much water so you have to get your mixtures just right. Plus if you use the water/meth kit you'd better have a big tank cause you'll burn up a full tank of the mixture on a high EGT run, which means you'd have to stop and re-fill ever time that happens.

Good food for thought . i didn't think of rust or over heating with meth. I believe if you get the right mixture it would be good. I wonder if it does as much cooling as the i-cooler.

You know I came across NC to the coast pulling around 5k lbs. and the temps got to 900 easy through the mountains and on hard accelerations. I don't even have an aftermarket turbo or injectors or anything like that. Just the 10K. That must have been it but I didn't think it should be that high.

Steve, when in the course of all your mods did the ability to tow heavy start to degrade and EGT start to really limit you? I assume when you were back in stage 1-ish land things were better for towing than now? Pulling Vantage to Ryegrass must kill you, that's 10 miles of steep heat there.

Stage 1 land my towing ability started to fall out. If you had an intercooler tho with stage 1's there wouldn't be a doubt in my mind that you could still tow heavy and have no worries. Even with stage 2's and an intercooler you should be able to tow heavy again. You gotta remember though that an intercooler and a kwik filter intake will net you about 300* drop in EGT's. thats a significant drop, then if you were to add water/meth your supposed to see another 150* drop in EGT's so there are ways to keep them down but its about whats practical.

The worst pull for me is Cabage Hill right outta Umatilla. Dont think I've ever been to Ryegrass, let alone heard of it. 10 miles tho aye, thanks for tellin me, i'll be sure to avoid it, lol.

I have heard that water meth will only keep your egts down it will not decrese them. Like if your pulling a hill and temps are at 1200 already the water wont cool it from there it will only keep it there. If you turn on the water before the egts get up there it will help keep them down.

1400 is getting up there but I have pulled that hill many times and no ill effects yet on the motor. I think the 1250 is a safe temp to keep in your head but you can run them past that for short durations.

Snow performance told me over the phone that the right mixture of water and you'll see a drop of 150*. Now, how long the solution lasts depends on how long you use it.
