Ok so im sure this question has been asked before many times so why not one more time ... so the thing is i had to take my turbo out to put a rebuild kit thank s to Jeremy aka JTharvey and also purchased the o-rings for my pedestal so now would be a good time for this but im not sure what the benifit is of removing this item other then it can leak ...and the only thing ive been able to find out about it is that it has to do with the cold weather and since i live in florida i guess i dont really need it ... so here is a link i found ... what whould you guys say Yay or Nay and well if u can give me some more info on the matter i would greatly appreciated... thanks in advance....ooh and i dont think i will be getting an exhaust break anytime soon so....?
If you're in warm weather, I'd go for it. Heck, even in Missouri, I don't even use mine anymore. I've got it on a manual switch, but never end up using it, even when it's well below freezing outside.
The best way to go about it is to get a non-EBPV turbo pedistal. Dieselsite has them, but I don't remember how much they are. However, you decide to keep your current pedistal, the rod will have to go, because if it just hangs down, it can start to leak out of the seals around the rod. There are several methods to getting rid of the rod, but I'm not familiar with most of them. You might try a search of the 7.3 forum to see what you can find. I know it's been discussed before.
