Well my truck used to be an automatic but later was converted into a 3spd Mt. Only thing is i dont think they swapped out the original rear end that was in when it had the automatic in it. Someone told me i could just go with a 4spd tranny and keep the rear end since the 4spd has a lower 1st gear. But what does everyone think? Any suggestions??
what is your vin, motor, etc, theirs a little tag on the rear end, tell us what it says, i say you wont have to change rear ends, but like ^^ said, why?
I'm not sure what you're asking. What's wrong with the truck the way it is?
well nothing i guess i would just like to find a the right rearend for in it. Its a 300c.i 2wd other than that im not near the truck so i cant tell ya anything about whats on the rearend tag

You HAVE the correct rear axle...there's only ONE.
The SAME rear end = a Ford 9 inch, was used on 1973/79 F100/150's regardless of what transmission was used. There are several different rear end ratios available, but both the 3.25-1 and 3.50-1 were used with either a stick or an automatic. You prolly have one of those two ratios. If the rear axle tag is missing, look on the warranty (VIN) plate, on the left door. Look where it says AXLE. You can use the FTE axle decoder, or post the code here.
The rear axle tag, if still there, is located on one of the 10 bolts that attaches the carrier to the housing. The tag is usually on the drivers side, about 5 o'clock.
