Bumper plug

Whats the keyed plug in my bumper, near the wiring harness for, on my 2005 Lariat? Jim

bumper lock

Whatever you do....never, I repeat, NEVER take that lock out.....your bumper will fall off soon afterward !!

there is not a special key that unlocks that lock is there?

No , just your truck key, same one you start it with. Its just to there to cover the hole that you stick the wrench in to get your spare tire down.

Has anyone had a problem with the spare tire lock rusting up? A buddy of mine has an 05 and said his lock has started to rust. Would keeping the lock greased up help prevent this problem?

Nope, mine still looks like new. 2004 w/28,000 miles. The front is stainless ,but if the back side of it is rusty, I cant see where a little grease would hurt anything. I could see that area catching lot of road water and grime. If he has oversized tires maybe they throw more stuff up there than mine do. My only concern would be the rust spreading to my chrome bumber and a litte grease might help prevent that.
