Intake manifold problems?

I have a 1995 f150 2wd with a 302 motor. It ran like a top until a month ago.
Symptoms are the following:
1. Intermittent rough idle (smooths out when you drop it into neutral)
2. Sometimes the power just drops off of a cliff.
3. Runs fine when the check engine light comes on.

I have changed the cap, wires, rotor. I had a fluid leak on top of the water pump and put Bars aluminum stop leak in and all the problems cleared up for about a week then back to the same old same old. The fluid leak is still gone. I know you are supposed to do it right and change the gasket but I was hoping to buy some time until the New Orleans summer gave way to fall. My questions are the following:

1. Do I have the right diagnosis or could there be other issues?
2. Is their a better stop leak product that will buy me some time until fall?
3. Is their a website that will walk you thru changing the gasket. I can't even see the bolts!!!

Any help will be immensly appreciated

Thanx

welcome to fte.

bars leak or any other is a stop gap repair.

invest in a repair manual, it will save you money in the long run.

are plug wires on correctly and not burnt anywhere?

reset the computer.

The water leak has NOTHING to do with the performance of the motor. The computer is flashing warning in your face so it sees something wrong. You need to find out what that problem is. Go here to find out how. http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13

We can't help you unless you follow Paul's advice. Your On Board Diagnostics scans all your sensors continuously, once an issue is located a code will be stored or a Check engine light will illuminate.

Often times this will correspond to your ECU running in limp mode. Which will kill the performance of your motor, in order to spare major overhaul damage.

One of your EFI sensors is warning you there is a problem. Pull the codes and post them here.

and... welcome to FTE

Good Luck
Mike
