Catalytic Converters
OK get ready, here is a long one. My cats blew out awhile ago, and i refuse to pay 100 bucks a piece for new ones.. 97 f150 2WD 4.2L Auto.
Did you know that sucker has 4 cats and 4 O2 sensors??? Anyhow, I have manufactured, shall we say, a free flow exhaust(non-catalytic). Now, i keep having check engine lights. After buying a scanner for it, it comes back and its telling me that bank1 and bank2 are running too lean. Summit Racing will not sell me new cats because it is in the 5 year window period(according to federal law). Ford is telling me that the warranty is only for 80K miles. So how do i keep the check engine light off, and running it without cats, will that tear up anything?? Ive heard yes and no....Somebody give me some explaination please??
