I know i ask alot of questions on here...a lot of them are dumb. But i'm really stumped on this one.
I have a 86 f150 351 5.8l carbed
last night i advanced the timing until the engine pinged then i set it back till it stopped, then i set the accelorator pump with a .015 feeler guage........truck started and ran great!
this morning i went to start the truck and all it does is turn over, it won't start....i thought i flooded it this morning, so i left it and at lunch time i came back and tried to start it again, and the same thing, it just turned over. so then i set the timing back to where it was originally and still won't start.
Somebody help please, i need my truck for work!
Do you have any spark on the plugs. Take an old one connect it up to a plug wire make sure its grounded properly and check for spark. When problems occur always take it one step at a time. If you have spark and fuel they should run as long as a timing chain hasn't jumped or something like that.
Ok so for some reason, without doing anything it's starting again. but i still have the problem with accelerating. if you accelerate slowly the truck drives fine, but it you punch the gas pedal you get a millisecond of power then it bogs for a second then it kicks in and accelerates. and it's really bad going from 1st to 2nd
my accelerator pump diaphram is new and it's not leaking gas out of there anywhere. and my nozzle size is 28.
