So I setting up the alert warnings on my DashHawk and I'm curious what everyone's idea is for safe operating temps/boost.
Without any major engine mods (AFE CAI, Power Elbow, 4" exhaust w/ no cat, no muffler) what would you consider the 'red line' limit for the following on a 6.0L:
blackhat, thanks! one question, I thought I've read somewhere that anything over 200 for the trans temp is a bit much? my truck normally runs about 170*F unloaded.
I think what you are referring to is the trans temp when you use the pre existing hole in the side of the tranny.....correct? If so that is where I put my trans temp robe and was told 210 is maxxxxxx!

The guy said here 220 and yes that is where my probe is, although I did not tell him where the probe was mounted, but more then likely he assumed that is where I would have put it as it is the simpliest place(as far as I could tell anyway).

I posted redline warning temps, because i thought you wanted max values.
At 195F the transmission is good for 100K miles(200K miles at 175F) and for every 20F increase in fluid temperature the transmission life is reduced by half. So if you run the fluid at 215F sevice life is 50K miles, at 235F 25K miles and when you get to 250F the seals are damaged and the transmission will need to be removed and repaired.
Lower transmission fluid temps are better, but you can get up to 230F for short periods without much problem. Pick the redline values you are comfortable with and set your monitor for them.
