News about Jaguar and Landrover sale.
"Ford is compiling a short list of bidders for the two car companies and is looking for binding offers by the end of the month."
And they think Jaguars aren't selling now? People thought it was a bad move on Jaguar's part to sell themselves to Ford. Who's gonna buy an Indian Jaguar?
Are y'all aware that the Chinese are about ready to enter the US market? Chery Automotive Group has made a deal with Chrysler to retail their cars thru select Chrysler-Dodge dealerships.
The Indian automakers are looking for a US partner, to be able to have access to existing sales outlets. One way of acquiring one is to buy out an existing car manufacturer.
Tata anyone?
Who is going to buy an Indian Jaguar or Land Rover? Indians, 1000's of them. The cars assembly plants in Britain won't change (at least for the time being). The country is booming economically, almost as much as China is. All the US automakers are looking at India for economic reasons. At least two auto makers have Indian assembly plants in their future plans. Besides GM, guess who?

Look up Tata Motors. You can buy shares on the New York Stock Exhange under the symbol TTM. Just because you never heard of them does not mean they do not exist. Who in America heard of Hyundai before they started to import cars here? In Asia, some companies do not start out building cars, like Ford or Daimler, but are general industrial conglomerates that get into the business later, like Mitusbishi or Hyundai. Imagine if Edison had gotten GE into the car business before GM was formed.
Try finding a part for a Daewoo. Some Dodge dealers were selling them, but got out, because they didn't sell very well. The Dodge dealer near me won't work on a Daewoo, unless you bought the car from them.
