Changing right front axle u joint
The u joint is shot. The upper and lower ball joints are tight. I assume both ball joints and the whole spindle has to come off to in order to pull the shaft out? Do I have to do any pressing to get the spindle off or is a press just needed to get new ball joints into the spindle housing. Will I damage the ball joints if I resue them? I already got the u joint, it was $30!! Still better than the $50 that NAPA wanted. I need to get the dust boot too. Sucks because I just the the needle bearings a month or two ago.... and the u joints were fine.

You don't need to remove the ball joints. Just pull the wheel,locking hub, rotor and then unbolt the axle support in the spindle. The whole front axle with u-joints and seals pulls straight out (although the seal makes it tough to get out). Search for the thread where someone posted detailed instructions for replacing ball joints for more details on doing this job. I would plan on replacing the seals on either side of the u-joint while I was at it because you'll probably damage one of them just getting the axle out.

Awesome! I was hoping that would be the case. Will go ahead and get the seal for the outside of the U joint. On the inside of it, there is actually only a dust boot, which needs to be replaced as well. Thanks,
