I just installed the LT Mega Shifter in my 1977 F150 4x4 400/C6 with NP205 transfer case. The bracket that attaches to the tranny pan for the cable rubs against my front drive shaft. Called B&M and talked to them, they said that they were aware of the problem, but it didnt affect anyone except those trucks with the married transfer case(Fords) so they dont make a bracket for this application. Has anyone made this install? I need to know how to redesign or build a bracket that will allow my shifter to function properly and still clear my front drive shaft. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hey BJ,I haven't installed one yet.But i was thinking of putting one in my 2wd. What i was wondering was about the fit.Does it sit high enough to clear the seat?Is the console decent looking?I'd like to hear from ya before I make a purchase,I'm putting together a 78 pro street.
thanks Darryl Wickham
My truck (66 F100 2WD C6) has a B&M Megashifter installed by the PO. Not Good! Bangs my knee if I am not careful, no neutral start or back up light switch, it sticks and is generally a pain in the butt to work. The cable is way to long and melted on the exhaust. The PO had a C6 automatic installed by a transmission shop, replacing a three speed manual. So far so good. Then he installed the Megashifter himself, (after chopping a hole in the carpet and floor). The shifter position interfered with the original bench seat! No problem for Mr. ergonomically impeded, he simply installed bucket seats from a GD Ch*&y. Now he has significant driver position interference with the steering wheel. This is easily fixed, he just installed a $36.00, 13 inch steering wheel from Pep Boys. Beat the classic original steering wheel to junk getting it off and tossed all the horn button parts (excess weight I guess). Problem is this truck is a manual steer, the lower column bearing is gone and Mr. PO is a smallish guy who can not turn the new small diameter steering wheel! So he sold the truck. I am in the process of undoing all this silliness and enjoying every minute.
