390 are strong high torque motors. RPM wise the lifters will start to float at around 5-6k rpm. If the heads have not been reworked for unleaded fuel, you will get a valve guide failure, unless you use additive. There were 2 different oil pumps used, low-high volume. Cooling may be an issue. I launched a cooling fan through a radiator years back at around 6k. This is where the electric fans come in. They turn off once you start going down the road.
Every engine is different, depends how well it has been maintained. I do not push my 360 past 6k. But mine is highly modified and will take more.
