Jack Placement

What is the proper position for the tire jack on the front of a 99 F-150 4x4? The drawing in the manual leaves a little to be desired. I rotated the tires on my truck this weekend using what I thought was the correct position, but now I hear an feel a slight noise from the front wheels at low speed braking. Any help would be appreciated.

Some of the guys may disagree, but I suggest putting the jack under a shock support bracket, especially if its a floor jack.
