5.8 replacing a 5.0
ok heres the skinny i have a 91 f250 with a 5.8 the truck is totaled but the engine is fine the transmission is leaking out the front seal this is my father inlaws gift to me the cab looks like it was chopped with a chainsaw.anyways over at my house i have a 1992 f250 that had a 5.0 it has a door tag that says it it has an "E" Transmission does that mean e4od??? and can i use the 5.8 in the 92 f250???? any help will be appreciated

Yup, tranny code E is the E40D. I don't see why the tranny wouldn't work with the new motor, the 351 and 302 are basically the same motor, the only difference being the 302 has a 4 inch bore and 3 inch stroke while the 351 has a 4 inch bore and 3.5 inch stroke. Also Ford bellhousings are pretty much universal.

Yep Just put in the 351 and the flywheel is balanced different. 351 has different firing order than 302 (hey they were made same around 92-93 so you might be lucky ) .Just swap injector order if needed. If the older 351 truck dosn't hav ee4od you will/may have to find other PCM for 351 with e4od. But I have run 351 's with a 302 PCM and ran fine. Maybe not to optimum but with the larger C.I. you don't notice

You're pretty lucky. Two E4OD trannys sittin on your plate. Put a new seal in that front pump and you're good to go. It will go out eventually, which is when you can have it updated to 95-96 year's specs, which ended up making the tranny pretty tough!
