So what's 40? My age? Nope. Half of Eugene's Age? Close. The cost for a 1/4 tank of Diesel? Nope. 40 would be the amount of Boost I made on my initial test drive before hearing that infamous "BOOM" of a blown boost tube. And this was not in the highest setting, and with only about 1/2 throttle. . Put the tube back on and try again, Blows at 30. Look at the end, and it is tapered and and obviously compressed from being overzealous with the clamp. So I need a new CAC tube. But it would appear that FINALLY i have a motor that runs like it should. My low end is much much improved. Infact, it has more bottom end with a blown tube then it did before. Well I promised the family we would go camping, so I better get off here before I get in more trouble.....More details to follow

I did the same thing when I re assembled mine after cleaning all the boots. I have an exhaust pipe expander that can be used with a wrench/ratchet/impact that just fits in the tube. Take it in to a shop as suggested, they should be able to straighten(round) it back out for you.
Sounds like the last disassembly/reassembly has fixed something on your engine
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who's ever crushed an IC tube from being too aggressive with a clamp.
Good to hear that you've got it back together and running well. I'll be curious to get your impression of the new cam once you've had a chance to put some miles on it over a variety of conditions.
Okay, so heres a quick update. Good and bad. First, the truck is running stronger than ever before. SOTP 1/4 says mid 14's, maybe low 14's in 4WD. The bad, still has a lack of low end torque. I am now looking at the transmisison as a possible culprit, though that is not where my gut feeling lies. I am waitning for my new DP tuner chip to come in and see what that can do for me. I have finally got my boots to stay put, and can build almost 45psi of boost, and from a stop, she blows a cloud big enough to attract greenpeace. But it's a WVO cloud, so I am being enviromentally conscious right? . All aroudn the truck is more responsive, better throttle response, more top end, and seemingly better MPG . I have driven over a 1,000 miles and have only used about a 1/2 tank. I will know for sure how she is doing this weekend, as I plan to attend the Woodburn truck Races in Oregon.
the diesel is just used to start and warm the truck and WVO up to operating temp then he is burning waste vegetable oil. Hey, Jason how much veggie oil have you used in the 1000 miles? 55-60gals?

So what is different now from before? Just a better job of sealing everything up?

55-60 gallons is what I would have expected, but it has been closer to only about 40 gallons. I might have to do an actual MPG test.

That's a good question, not sure. I never did find anything that was black and white "bad". The cam had a wearing lobe, but only about .020. I replaced my Up-pipes while at it, but the old ones didn't appear to be leaking. I did finally mount my Pyrometer probe the way it should be, by tapping the manifold and using a stainless compression fitting. Even RTV'd the Oil pickup around the spot they are known for leaking air. Oh yeah, and the injectors are a fair amount bigger. Big quesion is, how will it do towing?? That I will find out soon.
