brake bleeding

About to pull my hair out, i am sure its something simple i am missing. Changed line from front to rear, no sweat, started to bleed brakes the usual 2 person way. Brakes tight when engine is off, as soon as i flash her up pedal turns to sponge. Did a electrical reset on the system same thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.J

With the motor off, you don't have much vacuum to assist you in pushing the pedal (assuming your vehicle has power brakes.)

If you have an ABS valve, they can hold air and takes another procedure to bleed. Did you bleed both rear wheel cylinders/calipers? If all else fails, try bleeding the front.

I have exactly that problem on a friends `92 K1500 Chevy. Have bled around 4qts. of fluid thru it. Have decided to get a pressure bleeding kit this week. I have been told that some ABS systems cannot be bled any other way.

A non-allison chevy has pitiful brakes anyway and there is nothing you can do about it. The best mod I have heard of is to disassemble the prop valve and plug the hole, giving the truck a more 60/40 bias instead of 80/20. I know this works on the B-body chevys, I don't know about anyother chassis.
