Hey guys My buddy is trying to install his new exhaust kit right now and he cant get his downpipe out or the new one in. any quick help would be great thanks guys
which is it? if he can't get the old one out, obviously the new one won't fit in. if he's already got the old one out, the new one will slide right in.
if your buddy doesn't have the truck up on a lift, your buddy will most likely have to cut the down pipe just after the first bend under the truck.
The new pipe DOES NOT just "slide right in", it takes some convincing.. You'll have to work around a few issues (and unbolt a few things) but it WILL go.

Cut the OEM pipe as high up as you can, there is a tab on the OEM pipe where it mounts to the turbo, you will need to be under the truck and push up on the OEM pipe. This should lift the tab and the pipe should come out easy. Then put in the new DP from the bottom of the truck, you may need to move it around as you are placing it into position.

on my 04, i replaced the stock exhaust w/ a MKO 4" system w/ a 3.5" down pipe. I cut the stock down pipe, slid the new down pipe in from under the truck and bolted it on. i didnt have to unbolt anything except for the clamp on the turbo. don't know why everyone has "issues" installing a downpipe.
i had no hang ups with my dp either? so yes it will just slide in and out after it is cut or the tranny crossmember is unbolted! your probably never gonna use the old exhuast anyways so just cut it...
