Transmission Woes
Well I finally got everything put back together enough for a test drive and the rattling that I thought was the throw-out bearing has gotten much better but is coming from the transmission. I do not know when the last time it was serviced or when the fluid was changed last. What is the easiest way to service a 3 speed, on the column, tranny? What do I need to look for and where are the drain and fill holes. This is on my 59 by the way if it makes any difference and it is the origional drivetrain.

When does the noise occur? When under way, or when at a standstill and the clutch is pushed in? What did you have done to the clutch, a complete replacement or just the release bearing?
I hate to say it but an oil change is not likely to do any good, unless it's just plain out of oil now. The fill plug should be on the side, and the drain plug on the bottom.

It only happens in neutral or when the clutch is all the way out. I replaced the whole clutch by the way and machined the flywheel. I haven't had it underway since I replaced the clutch being that it has 4 different wheels on it right now and it is not insured. I found a parts truck for $300 and I might snag the transmission out of it. Is mine geared the same since his is for a 223 and mine is for a 292?

Sounds like you have some metal to metal rattle going on especially when you only hear it in neutral at idle. Check the inspect plate on the bell housing and make sure it's tight and anything else that may be loose.
