Differential oil ???

I have a 2003 fx4 and I'm going to change the diff oil in the rear and noticed that some say that It needs a friction modifier added to the oil and some say it dont. Im confused on this issue, I noticed on Mobile 1 website their gear oil has the modifiers but Iam wanting input from you guys.

You have to replace what's there... if its synthetic you have to use synthetic, and if you have a limited slip differential you need to add a limited slip additive. Its not generally something I would do "just cuz", is there a paticular reason you are changing yours?

A lot of the synthetic makers add the modifier, if they say they have it you probably won't need it, if the rear starts making noise then you will need to add it.
